Happy Scrappy Fourth!

Need some fun ideas for scrapping the FOURTH?  Recently I did this layout for the PROJECT A DAY over at the Fiskars website!  (I snuck y'all a peek already :)  Here's the full page!

I created a lively stamped background and a fun border with none other than one of my favorite Squeeze Punch designs...TWINKLE TWINKLE!  I have used this one NON-STOP lately!

(see how I used it as a pattern for the stitched star above?)

Ooooh...here's another fun idea!!!  Okay, okay...I wish I could show you more...but of course these are GS104 projects, so sadly I have to keep the fun under wraps :)!

Head over the the Fiskars site to check out the HOW TO on this project.  Enjoy a different project EVERY DAY this month!  It's all about summer fun!

June 30, 2009

So much to say...so little time...

I cannot.  CAN NOT.  I just can't believe that it is June 30.  Oh my.  It just can't be!  I've been so busy, the days just fly by and it seems I miss weeks at a time!  I won't complain...I've made lots of progress over the last weeks...we are in FULL ON potty training mode!  Yes, we are! Our grass (his favorite place to go) has been watered A LOT!  It's going pretty good...I'm afraid to say..."he's potty trained" because I can hardly believe it has been so easy!  Today we had a full day of underwear...no accidents!  WHAT!@@$@&^%&#*   YES!  Serious! I'm so happy...excited...and proud!

He's a swimming maniac too!!!  We've just about got him waterproof!  He swims underwater a few feet...and we're still working on that!  Check him out here:

It just so happens that this page is a special treat!!  Not only did I create it with the June Scarlet Lime kit, it's featured in one of our EXCLUSIVE scrap along videos in Got Sketch 104Vid peek
(yes, I'm a dork on camera...but I'll do anything for scrapbooking!!! LOL)

Vid peek2

It's basically me (Val does one too) working from start to finish on a sketch layout...it's pretty neat to see the process and learn what goes through someone's mind as they are creating.  I know that I even learned a couple of great tips from Val's video!

Class is winding up this week but you can still sign up if you're needing a little scrappy pick me up!  I think you'll LOVE it...and the hundreds of layouts posted in the student gallery are FANTABULOUS!!!!

I'm trying to embrace the fourth as hubs keeps telling me we have this, and we have that to attend/host...I just take life like one hour at a time, you know?  I did do a project a week or so ago that is so fun, so cute, I can barely keep it under wraps!  So, I'll sneak you a peek!  It's a super cute, FOURTH of July layout from a couple years ago...having fun with my Twinkle Twinkle star Squeeze Punch!

Check out this AMAZING article on STAR POWER right HERE!  Lisa Storms is one of THE most amazing scrap-crafters in the world...period.

Totally off subject...this December is my 15th wedding anniversary.  15.  We've officially been together over half my life...LOL!  Crazy, isn't it...and I still love that dude...

...more than ever. :) and not just because he's totally hot, uh, I mean handsome. LOL!

Speaking of love birds...here's a little card I made for a Fiskars make & take for CHA...using some of my favorite Fiskars tools...

Did I mention we got a cat?  Well, actually, Abby got a cat for her birthday (from Grandma & Grandpa).  She's doing a great job of taking care of him and loving him very much!

Well, I've got to get my beauty rest...or I'll never be able to get my jog in -in the a.m.  6 a.m. will be here before I can shut my eyes!

busy busy!

As usual, I'm spinning my plates, putting out the fires with the biggest flames, working on projects that are due YESTERDAY or sometimes the day before!  Why oh why do I procrastinate?  I enjoy what I do SO very much when I am not in a mad rush...but strangely enough I feel that I can be more creative when I'm under that clock ticking pressure?

Speaking of, I was just thinking how much I am enjoying Got Sketch 104...I have to be honest, the pages that I've done for our Got Sketch series are among my all time favorites.  The latest addition to the group is no different...but you know I love it because it's all about my sweet Sara...here's a peek:

Blog peek

This go around, it's all about the 4 x 6 "get-er-done" fabulous sketch designs...but we've added a few fun twists and some interest with the photos...you 104 gals know what I'm talking about? Right?  This particular layout...up to SEVEN pics...yes, I said seven!  Definitely check it out if you need a scrappy pick me up or need some ideas on how to pack your pages with photos!

Two of our videos in GS104 are what we call "scrap alongs" which was such a fun experience too!  You can see the entire process of how Val and I work with sketches on the EXCLUSIVE videos...what sketch we start with, how we make it our own and why, and all the rest!  It's a neat process!  You can see exactly how I created this layout from scratch:

I have to share something else...so beautiful and creative.  Sophie made this and she reads my blog and she thought it would be most wonderful if this scrapbook page was displayed on my blog...

IMG_0059_resize

Very nice, huh!?  She made this TOTALLY by herself! Thanks Sophie for letting me pretty up my blog with this!

Well, I'm back to work now...lots to check off my list today!

Val's got the first sketch and you know it's a dandy!  A little eye candy above...are those Scarlet Lime goodies I spy?  Hmmm?  Spend some time scrappin this summer with a Got Sketch class!

Everybody I know is heading to the beach...wish I was!  Staycation for us!  The pool is just right and we can always pick weeds instead of hunting for seashells, right!?  LOL!!!  Anyway...wanted to share something fun you can do with seashells you find this summer!  Check out this project over at www.fiskarscrafts.com.  I got these shells from my friend Karen on a trip to K2 Scrapbook Studio (one of my best trips ever :) in Sarasota, Florida a few years ago...I've been wanting to do something special with them and I like this fun little canvas!

Oh goodness...I've got to get back to work...but I had to say hey!  Maybe later I'll give you a peeky at what I've been working on?  ttfn :) jw

summer time...wooo hoooo!!!!

A few of you have noticed that I've been MIA.  We've been out of school here one full week.  I have to say...I think I enjoyed this week more than any other in a LONG time...with the exception of a few baubles (a major case of poison ivy, Sara was in a car accident with a friend, etc...) --but all is good now.  I really want to soak up the summer.  Last year, I think summer was my busiest time of the year...I really want to have some fun with the kids and not be stuck indoors all summer.  Plus, now that I've shed nearly 20 lb. I feel much better, have more energy and want to get out and kick up my heels!

Gotta share this month's Scarlet Lime:

Heatin' Up...slimmin down...runnin' round and round!!!

First a little inspiration of the day:

Photo holder favor_resize

Make this fun project in a jiffy for a baby shower, wedding or party favor!  Check out the details HERE.

It's been awhile since I checked in!  Whew...I feel like I'm on an AMAZING RACE!  I have lots to share!  I've been feeling really great lately...tired, but that's a good thing!  These last weeks before school lets out means life is WAY busy with the kids' activities and the wind down of the year.   Today-- we had fun at Abby's field day!  Okay, so Cash had a blast and me, I was burning to a crisp!  LOL!  ME and the sun, not a great combo!

A little pic from Mom's day...I had such a good one!  Even got Scott to snap a few pics!  Abby made me a beautiful plate and Sara wrote the most touching words that she read aloud in our morning church service...it was a beautiful, wonderful, blessed day!

IMG_0074sm

I have lost a total of 16 lb. on my weight loss journey!  I am feeling good!  (but also why I'm so tired...working out a couple of times on some days)  Last week, I decided I needed to step it up a notch and began some jogging/walking in the mornings.  I did FIVE days last week!  Today--I was able to double the distance that I jogged in my trek!  Feels pretty great!  I can tell that this is doing my body good...it's really wonderful!  I don't think I will be doing five days a week...my goal is FOUR.  I think that is a good routine for now.

Another favorite pic of late...just so...THEM!

IMG_0096a

What else...well, I got this email from one of the nicest, most kindhearted, creative souls I've ever met...asking to help out with this wonderful, beautiful cause...and I'm proud to say that I'm a little part of the BIG FIGHT.  Steph is doing the 39.3 AVON WALK FOR CANCER.  I'm so amazed how wonderful folks like Stephanie can literally create a movement...with their big old hearts full of love.  GO help.  Do a small gift.  Do a BIG donation.  No one has to know.  Everyone can know.  Do what your heart leads you to do...just do it.

Out for now!

talking shop...

I have to tell you...I've been in a bit of a scrappy slump lately.

It's true.

I was telling Scott about it the other morning and thinking about WHY I might be feeling this way later on that day...and it hit me.  I haven't been taking any pictures!  That's it!  Literally, I have been so bad, my camera must feel very unloved lately!  I really think that this is the reason I haven't had much desire to create scrapbook pages.  I remember about 10 years ago when I first discovered scrapbooking...there was just nothing like a stack of freshly developed pictures (sometimes when I picked them up they were still warm!)!!!  I'd stow away in my little scraproom all night and create page after page.  I just loved that.  I'd put out the pages on the bar for Scott to see on his way out the door for work in the morning...of course, I was so proud of each page.  I still feel the same way...and after having quite a few pages published...I still get just as excited to see a page in a magazine as I ever did and I love to see Scott's reaction to my latest creation.   I love seeing the kids flip through their books and reminisce.  I love reading over my thoughts and journaling when I created pages several years back...being reminded of moments and memories through the photos and notes I've written.  Yes, this is why I scrapbook.

Speaking of...I don't know if you've gotten your May/June Scrapbooks etc. magazine...but if you have you might have seen this one...

Sara, Abby, Cash_resize

I just love this one.  It's so simple.  It captures each of the kids so perfectly.  It makes me think of hot August --the end of summer break just before they went back to school.  Just before Cash got his first little haircut.  It reminds me why I love to scrapbook

This one's in there too...

And this one...

Guess what....we have a guest poster over at Got Crafts? this week!  Check it out! Great inspiration and tips!

Christy's Eye for Design class is in full swing!  The gallery is full of great inspiration, three class challenges have been issued already this week giving students a ton of inspiration to work with!  If this class doesn't inspire you...I just don't know what would!  Here's a peek into Christy's classroom...

90 to nothing...

"90 to nothing"
ever heard that phrase?

That's my life the last few weeks!  I've been sitting here in the recliner for about an hour and a half (hence the "nothing" part) and I think this is the first time I've sat down in weeks.  Okay, maybe that's a stretch...I did watch a movie Sunday and I had two hours to myself.  That was nice too!

Busy with the kids.
Full plate of work.
Helping my Dad out.
Trying to keep on exercising and keep on my diet (down 13 lb. now- YAY!)
Oh...and there's home, church, lots of other activities and everything else in between.

I thought y'all might be interested in this (you know I love Walgreens!!!)

Wags freebie

Click the image to get a FREE 8 x 10 tomorrow at Walgreens!  YAY!!!  Who doesn't love a freebie now and then?

Christy's Eye for Design class is in full swing and folks are so inspired and amazed with her class so far!  I know I am!  Working on all of the content was so hard...ALL I wanted to do was scrap because it was SO INSPIRING!!!  You can join in on this workshop at anytime...all of the content is downloadable and you can be "inspired" at your own pace!  You'll love it!

I just got confirmation that I will be teaching at the Summer Scrap A Thon retreat hosted by Memories Galore in Glen Allen, Virgina!  I'm SO excited!  That is such a beautiful part of the country and I'm thrilled to get to go teach for Fiskars!  If you are in the area-- you gotta check this even out!  It looks like a great weekend!

Well, I have to go draw some prizes in the Eye for Design class!  Will you be a winner of some wonderful Scarlet Lime goodness?!?!  I hope so!
