weekly update!

Well, it's Wednesday and I'm glad but I hate to rush the week-- because my kids still only have 1/2 a costume and Halloween is like two days away.  Last year at this time I was sewing my fingers to the bone and we'd just moved into our house a few weeks prior...yes, I'm crazy!  But it was so worth it.  Sara & Ab are always running out to play as Mary and Laura (Ingalls) in their dresses I made them.  They love them.  Oh well-- I'm sure we'll pull it all together before Friday...no worries.

Have you checked out Scarlet Lime yet?  Oooohh...November is all about shades of blue and green.  I don't work with blue much...but that's what I LOVE about SL...it sometimes pushes you outside of your comfort zone of colors, products, etc...and it really kicks up the creative mojo!  The guest artist this month is my girl, Layle...gotta check out her stuff!  Here's a few peeks of my layouts--->

Baby, It's COLD!!

Man...I stayed up late last night working and my feet were freezing!!!  ...I usually never get cold...I've got lots of fluff to keep me insulated and cozy :)  But winter is coming on fast...I think I'm ready!  Can't wait for this weekend we are going on a haunted hayride!!  EEEEEeeeeeeKKKKKKKKKK!!  So excited!!

BIG OLE' HOLE, Huh!?

This place (our home) is almost 35 years old...and it's pretty cool cause it's the first pool that Heftly Gunite (the pool business) built...I think it's pretty awesome to see your work stand up over 35 years later like this.  Mr. Heftly's son now runs the business.  Cool.  The pool was in very bad need of resurfacing and we knew that when we bought the house last year.  It was looking like it had the measles!  Layers built up paint bubbling off and peeling...yuck, but that didn't mean our girls didn't have a high old time swimming all summer!

Mr. Heftly is 82 years old...and look at him go.

 

The young guys are standing around watching! LOL!  I think it's a huge blessing that he's 80+ and still loves and enjoys and is able to work.  He's truly one of the nicest men I've ever met--I've known him since I was a teenager. 

   

All these colors and he colored almost the whole time with a dumb old pencil!  UGH!!!  LOL!

weekend stuff

It's Wednesday...and well, I'm still thinking about the weekend...

ahhhh...the weather is just spectacular, cool breezes bringing down fall leaves, back yards already covered over, the crisp evenings-- had just a really FUN weekend this past...this coming will be much the same.  PURE FALL FUN.

The girls spent Sunday afternoon creating Halloween decor...fun stuff...

 

 

Our house is TOTALLY haunted!!!

 

 

Poor Scott had the task of trimming trees this weekend...and well, we've got a lot of trees.  Big old established leaf throwing, branch losing, limb dying, hanging over the house, got to be dealt with trees.  Love em (him too :).

I don't know why I think this is so cute...but you can bet there's ALWAYS something in his pockets now :)

Check out this creepy group of Jack'O'lanterns! Aren't they fabulous!?  ...the far left is Sara's and the skull (4th from left) is Abby's (Scott's :).  Some friends of ours have an annual get together-- pumpkin carving, fire, the whole nine yards...kids LOVE it!

I worked on some yummy fabric goodies for Fiskars over the weekend...oohh...just love playing with this stuff!  Here's a little peeky--> 

I have so many ideas on this and hope that I can pull a lot of them together for a little online class?  Right now?  Who knows?!  But I'm going to try!  Look for the above project sometime in November (lots of goodies to come) on Fiskars website!  www.fiskarscrafts.com

Speaking of--- cruise over to Fiskars to check out the October sketch.  Its a great basic design you can use again and again!

Almost caught up

Just had a few minutes here before we head out and thought I'd share some happy thoughts...

Finally getting caught back up since our trip (even the laundry, yes...I too am impressed with me :)  My family even got a homecooked meal last night (Scott's favorite pinto beans and cornbread).  I bought groceries, so we can get back into the swing of sitting down as a family for dinner.  I really do love to cook...especially this time of year.

From scratch crust...this is the BEST recipe.  Using a food processor (and ice cold water, oh, and REAL BUTTER) is the key. 

Tomorrow sketch 2 is going out for our Got Sketch Express class...loving this format!  Download, print, scrap.  How easy!!  ...for us crazy Mamas (or Daddies), working girls, college gals...just for busy scrappers that still need to flex our creative muscles, so to speak.  Here's a sneak peek of the second project being sent out today---->

Home again, Home again!

Well, after four days of Unlimited Inspiration...about 8 hours of sleep total, good times with some of my favorite gals---> I'm just a little bit tired!  But I did want to send out a great big

THANK YOU!!!

to all of you girls who came to our SOLD OUT Inspiration Unlimited event.  We had really fun group of gals who traveled from all over the country & Canada!! to take our classes and support our first event.  I just had the best time!  It brought back a lot of great memories of spending lots of time with my very good friend Teresa...I got to spend some time with one of my best friends, Tammy and I got to share this experience with one of the most important and special people in my life...my daughter, Sara.

Getting to know Layle was great and this event would NEVER have been possible without our dear, sweet friend Ginger Nelson.  Thanks girl!!  I can't wait to share more pics and details of our fun times...hopefully my Saturday Night fever dancing video won't get leaked on You Tube (girls!!! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE...if you are my friend, you WON'T!!!!) :) LOL!!
