from Halloween to Thanksgiving! WOW! Are you ready? I'm planning my menu and trying to get my grocery list in order. Hosting my family's gathering here at our house...and as usual we are under construction :)
Deer season interfered with the completion of the flooring last week :) and then the nail hammer broke--so we are waiting to get that fixed. I'm just so thankful that we're getting to do it-- I won't complain a bit. It's totally been a family effort. The girls help lay out the wood pieces (it's kind of like putting a puzzle together), I saw/cut the end pieces and Scott hammers. I'm surprised his right arm isn't noticeably more buffed up than the left...that hammering is serious work! Luckily we haven't even had any splinters in any of the little footsies running to and fro around here!
I'm very fortunate to have a very handy hubs. He's pretty talented in the woodworking area. He did all our trim in the kitchen/dining and he's working on this tile too.
It's come to a stand still because the new box of tile is defective! So I have to go exchange that tomorrow. My kitchen is pretty small and all so very painted cream/off white... but to add some warmth, I added a butcher block to this little section of counter top (it's mostly covered up with a plastic bag) but I think it will really look great. I love it already. Now...the next thing on the agenda in the kitchen is to repaint the cabinets (and maybe add a glaze) and add hardware.
I'm such a dork but I was thinking last night how very similar home decorating is to designing a scrapbook page or project. DUH! I guess all those design principles really DO apply to any type of design!! EUREKA!! LOL!!
So now I'm STILL trying to figure out what to do with THIS:
I don't even know that it will stay in here...but I've always had this idea that it would be fun to do pics of the kids in the kitchen and print them in b&w and display in the dining/kitchen. Hmm? Maybe? I'd love to hear thoughts on this?
Someday...(hopefully before Thanksgiving) I will find the switchplate cover and put it back on here :)
What else...we're knee deep in pumpkin bread!! Oh and pumpkin muffins!
Of course I had to try to healthy them up a bit so we messed with the recipe a little (used less sugar, replaced oil with 1/2 applesauce, used a cup of wheat flower in place of all purp) so they weren't quite as heavenly as the original recipe but still the girls love them! Actually, Sara and Abby made them all on their own. The only thing I did was gave the thick batter a stir and put them in and out of the oven! They even cleaned the dishes (okay I had to make them do that part!)
It's time for a peek! Yes, that's right! Sketch #7 is up and ready for all of you GSE students to go get motivated! Valerie PACKED the photos on this one! WOW!! It's a super duper sketch and will be perfect for your holiday photos!
Got Sketch Express is still available if you'd like to sign up. Easy access, great stuff...just download. print. scrap. I think you'll really like it!
