Got Crafts UPDATES! (GIVEAWAY INSIDE)

As we turn the calendar to 2009 why not kick off the NEW YEAR with a crafty calendar?  Just wanted to share two new downloads that are available at Got Crafts?  Val and I each designed a NEW downloadable calendar that is available for immediate download!  There's an adorable desktop calendar (Val's cool creation) and my Dates to Remember calendar book. 

The DOWNLOADS section of our Got Crafts? site is all about downloadable project ideas and inspiration.  What that means for you is that with just a few clicks of the mouse, you can have a crafty project to create and an afternoon (or late night :) of creative bliss!  All of the current downloads are $16 and are available in a pdf format.  Downloads include numerous process and finished product photos, supply lists, instructions and helpful tips.  I think you'll really love these cool projects!  Take a looky if you have some time.

happy holidays...

Oh goodness.  Christmas came and went like a flash, as usual.  I absolutely savored the moments...(I'll post some pics later)

Christmas morning -- hearing the excitement in their voices and thumping of the girls' feet down the stairs and their gasps of delight at the sight of the Christmas tree...seeing what Santa left for Cash and running down the hall to bring him in on the fun.  It was perfect. :) 

Santa was good to us though our greatest gifts are the wonderful blessings from our Lord.  God has blessed us with the things that cannot be purchased or made at the North Pole ;).  Thankfully, our needs have been met for the time being.  For that I am continually thankful and try hard to instill this thinking into my kids as well.  As I know so many families are struggling...in this uncertain economy, with health issues, missing loved ones and so many other trials.  My prayers are with those folks. 

I am facing the New Year with optimism that there are many good things to come.  With faith that God will see me through any rough times or uncertainty.  I guess my New Year's resolution is to ENJOY THE RIDE.  Life is like a runaway train, isn't it!  So my plan is just to hold on tight and take lots of pictures!  

Gotta go for now.  These next two weeks are busy busy...we've got two birthdays around the corner (Sara and Cash), parties to plan, New Year's festivities, pending deadlines and an upcoming Got Crafts? class on the horizon!  So I'm getting to work now...

Here's to a crafty beginning!

Tonight, I raise my hot cocoa mug to toast to the new beginning of something Valerie and I have been working, planning and dreaming about for sometime now. 

  

WOW!  This is exciting...I posted my thoughts on this new little venture that we've been dreaming so BIG about :) here.  It's pretty wonderful to seen our creative vision and all our brainstorming coming to life. Basically, Got Crafts? is our little corner of the web where we'll offer classes, downloadable projects, inspiration, kits and of course freebies too!  Valerie and I continually inspire each other and it's been a pleasure working with someone who shares and fuels your passion...very much a blessing!  We also have the help of a very important lady, we call her our RIGHT HAND GAL!  Lynn!!!  If you've been in our classes, you've probably already met Lynn, we couldn't do it without her! 

I had the pleasure tonight of meeting a very sweet lady, Marolyn, at Hobby Lobby.  She had been in the Got Sketch class and I'm so glad she stopped and we chatted.  I felt like I knew her already!  Isn't that so neat?!  I had to make a run to get some supplies for an up-coming downloadable class that will be making an appearance on Got Crafts? later this week (shhh!) and I bought myself a new Slice cartridge (with a 40% off coupon of course ;) with Christmas money from my Father-in Law! YAY!!  I took the rest and bought new boots!!  I was like a kid in a candy store!!  I was so excited about my new shoes I wore them out of the store!  The sales lady was just giggling at me...she could see how happy I was...OMGoodness!! I'm in heaven! 

So, the day draws to an end...I'm feeling so very blessed right now.  For my healthy family, for new beginnings, my new boots, my husband's endless patience, a beautiful NEW handknitted scarf I got in the mail (YES!!! THANK YOU TERESA...its the most wonderful, fabulous, softest and warmest scarf EVER!!!), for friends, for all the blessings I've been graced with...I'm even thankful for life's little ups and downs...because if everything was perfect, we wouldn't realize just what the good stuff in life is, would we?

  Due to a popular demand after the completion of our recent freebie class, Got Sketch Mini, we've decided to make our Got Sketch 101 & 102 classes available for those who missed the first go-around of the workshop series. While the original classes were interactive with teacher and student participation, prizes, forums and a gallery, these offerings will be more of a print-and-go format for your convenience. As usual, there's no homework, classes are self-paced and EVERYBODY gets an A+! We are offering all of the complete and original class content in an easy-to-navigate online classroom.

Feeling Crafty?

Whoa!  These last couple of weeks before Christmas are just like being on a runaway train!  AHHHHH!  I've got today and tomorrow to finish up all my work before a weekend of family festivities! 

So much to do!

I wanted to share something really fun...if you're feeling crafty, you could build your own little house of love. 

I made this project last fall and it is truly one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE things ever!!! (I know I say that alot).  It was a truly inspired creation.  I just love it :)  Guess what-- you can download the FREE patterns and instructions over at the Scrapbooks etc. website:  FAMILY PHOTO HOUSE DECOR  Look for the house in the Jan issue of Scrapbooks etc. too! 

So I've just GOT to get to work...I have about100 loads of laundry (yes I'm SO behind!!!)--okay maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration!  Or not!

I have wanted one for so long...can you believe every ONE of my roomies at CHA winter WON one!! YES!!  Girl...you know who you are!! LOL!!  So not fair!  Anyway, my sweet friend Linda sent me this info and I'm so thankful...I put a direct call into the BIG MAN himself (which just means I ordered it for myself :) and I'm SO SOSOSOSOSO excited!  I will have something under the tree!!! YAY!

I went to Hobby Lobby to purchase one the other night and they would not let me buy it with the 40% off coupon, sad...so sadly I left.  I just could not spend the $150 being the frugal gal that I am  :)  I know they are accepting the coupon at lots of stores, but not mine.  Still $120 is no small change but the EXCLUSIVE design cartridge sold me because it has one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE fonts on it!!!!  So this is only about $10 more than I would've paid at HL and it will arrive on my doorstep!

Happy Anniversary...

to me and Scott...we met when I was 17 (technically on my 17th birthday)...long story short we married when I was 18 (almost 19) and well, here we are.

14 years married.

Three great kids.

Five moves/houses.

All in the same community...born, raised, lived, and now here we are raising our own family.

Most people (that don't know Scott very well) probably wonder how I put up with him...he's rough around the edges, he LOVES to harass people (especially if he likes 'em), he's quiet and mysterious.   The truth is, it's really the other way around...he has to put up with me. :) He's got the patience of Job, he's one of the most self-less people I've ever met, he's the hardest working person I've ever met, he's the BEST Daddy ever and he's got a heart of pure gold.  Only a few people are fortunate enough to realize all of this...but it's so true.  I'm a lucky, lucky girl.  yet, I fully know that LUCK had nothing in the world to do with him and I...it's God's handiwork for sure.

He's been gone since Saturday...I miss him but I'm glad he got to go on his trip.  I could tell he was really having fun on the phone and my heart was glad.  I'll be most glad...when he's back home safe with me.

the weekend...

Well, just sitting here trying to plan my day.  So much to do and here I am piddling time away on the computer...but I have to share!  Right?

So I've got my work cut out for me...yesterday I hit a fabric sale and got 16 fat quarters (of AMY BUTLER!!! eeeeeeeeeeekkkkk) for just $1.50 a piece!  WHOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!  I'm so excited :)  But I also got some fabric to make the kids all matching pjs :)  So I've got to get started on that!  Can you tell I can get myself into serious trouble when I go to the fabric store...mmmm hmmmm.  And I have to go back today.  I better lock up my purse. 

So what did you ask for -for Christmas?  I didn't ask for anything for Christmas really, but I'm thinking I might ask Santa for a Slice.  Do you have it?  Do you like it?  I asked my hubby for this for our anniversary... 

Isn't this the coolest?  I came across this designer, Lisa Leonard...hand made, antiqued pieces...simple, imperfect and so wearable.  I love stuff like this!  Maybe I'll get one?  You should check out all her pieces...so many to choose from and if you order by the 7th you can still get it in time for Christmas!

December already?!?

My oh my!  Where has 2008 went?  December means so many things for me...it means:

• I now have a child in double digits (Sara will be 10 this month!!)
• I have been married 14 years!  Whoa! Time sure flies when you're in love!
• I better get my taxes started! LOL!
• From here on out it's a rollercoaster of holiday and birthday preparations...so many birthdays going on this month and through the end of January in our family! Whoo hoo!! PARTY!

On the home front we have almost completed our DIY projects!  I even have switchplate covers now!!  YAY!! 

I have to share this picture of Thanksgiving...this is a tradition that started with my Mother-in-law and niece...and now we carry on with it.  The kids love putting the finishing touches (AKA MARSHMALLOWS) on the sweet potato dish.  This year as I captured this image from behind the camera...it made me thoughtful and I just felt so blessed to see my three kids working on this task together...I'm so thankful for these healthy, happy kids that I have been blessed with.

 

 

Scott's favorite dessert is Chocolate Ice Box Pie--also known as Four Layer Delight.  He LOVES it!  I made it for him this year...he was in heaven!  But the pie went VERY fast!

 

Cash LOVED it too!

 

I usually put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving...but, I've been dealing with some sickies and ended up going to the Dr. on Saturday.  Moving slow...So the tree is still not decorated...it is up though.  I'll put on the lights today and then Sara and Abby are SO excited about decorating it when they get home this afternoon from school!  We have a box of ornaments out and this morning we lost the first (of probably several) glass ornament...I'll give you a hint as to who did it?

 

This is his "I'm so ashamed," stance.  LOL!  Poor baby!  Let's hope he learned his lesson?  Nice rooster tail huh!?
