week 20: I'm hooked on DIGI

  

working backwards...loving the digi fun!

 
As I mentioned in week 21 post, I've been consumed with everything but scrapbooking.  Designing yes, thoughts of designing...but SO NOT IN THE MOOD to break out the supplies, tools and mess with photos/editing, etc...  Ever feel that way?  Plus I've got a sick little boy and several sewing orders to get out...so, I did another fairly quick digi page.  Now you seasoned digi designers better not be making fun of me!  LOL!  This is only the third digi page I've ever done...so, bear with me. 

I picked up another scrapbook kit at the DIGIKIT SHOP --this one by a friend and sort of mentor of mine.  You know I LOVE these colors.  I love it that her designs are called "Quirky Twerp" because she used to call me the "Tweaker!"  LOL!!!  This kit has sequins and jewels and some jewel tone colors paired with classic black and white motifs...it's lovely. 

  

My challenge for you this week:

Scrapbook a photo of you and yours...

Week 21: moving right along...

 

Completely digital...
 
Like you couldn't tell :)  Well, this is probably the second completely digi page I've ever done.  Honestly, I just haven't had it in me to scrapbook lately.  So I had to challenge myself big time.  I just didn't feel like making a big mess, getting it all out and well, stressing!  This was an absolutely REFRESHING new thing for me!!!  No stress!

I picked up a great kit (or two ;) at the DIGIKIT SHOP and went for it! I really had fun with this and I'm definitely going to be doing more!  I love it.  No mess.  You can UNDO without UNDU!!!  No adhesive required...wow.  I'm going to print this off for my mom too.  I think she'll like it.

 

My challenge for you this week: Switch gears.  Try a digi page...or if you're digi, play with real paper ;)

Refreshing...

The Lonely Scrapbooker sent me this absolutely REFRESHING layout...inspired by week 19's sketch.  First of all...I LOVE green.  Second of all the little chicks are absolutely adorable and third of all...I LOVE her style!  She's got a great collection of inspiring layouts you should take some time and check out.  She totally inspired me this morning.  I think I'll get my rear in gear and do #20 now!!!

Free For all Friday: Printable Coupon File Labels

If you don't know it already, I'm an admitted COUPON JUNKIE!  My love for "cutting" transcends crafting --I love to clip coupons too!  I really love it when I save 20-40% on my grocery bill!  So I try to keep up with deals and ads of my local stores and I usually get 2-4 newspapers a week (for the coupons of course).  I trying something new with my organization...so I thought I would share these labels and you could use them as well!  

So far I have my labels attached to cardstock to create the file.  I purchased this unfinished wooden recipe box at Hobby Lobby to hold my coupons.  Look for next weeks post when I share how I'm going to customize the box and add a printable design to the front (that I'll share with you or course!).  If I left off any totally obvious labels...email me with suggestions and I'll consider updating the file.  However, there are blank labels included that you can add your own specific stores or categories.

Simply cut these along the grey cutting marks; fold in half and glue to the top of a piece of cardstock to create each file divider.  For the size of box I used- I cut the white dividers 4" x 7".  I think I may use a corner rounder on the top of my dividers..I'll share any improvements next week...I tend to tweak as I go!

Hi all.  I hadn't had time to create a project with this printable but I thought about several uses for it.  You may recognize this art as a flash from my past ;)  I've always loved this quote and specifically this little bit of art.

• I thought it would be super cute framed (it's 4 x 6) in your creative space or craft room. 
• Cut it out and use it on a card for a grad (yes, it would probably only be suitable for girls :)
• Trim out the oval shape and use it on a scrapbook page or collage.

TIP: Print on presentation paper or photo paper using your "best" print settings for vibrant rich color.

#19 -- breaking the girly streak! 52 week challenge!

 

Pulled out a project in progress...
 
I don't know about you but I have several projects in progress, things unfinished that really need to be wrapped up!  I pulled this page out...sweet, SWEET memories of Cash when he first got interested in cars.  He still has and LOVES these cars and plays with them all the time.  I was just amazed when he was six months old and how much he LOVED cars.  It's definitely a boy thing!

I played with some photo editing techniques to create these black and white photos with colorized cars.  I think it turned out pretty cool...a great technique to really make an object the focus...pop!  Here's an awesome tutorial for this process by Jessica Sprague (I wanna be her when I grow up :)

 

I created the white on black text strips in Word ...I googled to find you a tutorial on this if you don't know how...here's one.  I also used a lot of paint on this layout...to add a stark edge to the photos and the page itself.  I like the way it turned out though I usually don't go for messy stuff!  LOL!

I even found a sketch I had done for this one...very basic...

My challenge for you this week: FINISH SOMETHING YOU'VE STARTED...it feels good!

update...dreaming, praying, busy :)

I haven't blogged lately, have I? Challenge page is definitely coming today...I'm finishing up a partially complete layout to share this week. I think I even have a sketch for it?! I'll look...anyway...

Lots of excitement lately. Had a great visit last weekend with my little sister and even got to see her yesterday too. My mom and I had a great visit as we drove down to see her again.  She has such a sweet spirit...it's contagious, infectious and I love being around her. Its always happy good times. She inspires me.

In fact, right now I'm in prayer about possibly going back to school. Something I though I would do about three years ago...then...well, I got Mr. Cash. I know it's all God's plan, and I wouldn't change a thing. But in the past few days...I have been seriously considering, praying about and hopeful that I can return to finish my degree...in graphic design, of course! There's so much I want to learn, so much I don't know and so many potential opportunities and possibilities. I feel like I will be armed and ready to take on the world if I could learn more about what I already do and love. I'd love advice from other graphic designers...weigh in, advise...suggest away...

The reality is...I am a mama and wife. I have three chicks and a big nest to keep up with. It won't be easy. But somehow I am so excited at the possibility!?! SO. excited. I have a lot of decisions to make. I really haven't shared this with anyone. I just feel like shouting it from the roof tops! But, it may not work out --that's okay too. I'm just leaving it in HIS hands.

This morning I finished up an invitation I did for a friend...I totally love this idea...a birthday COSTUME party...perfect! (My friend wrote the cute poem...)
